Social Media Detox 2023: Rediscovering Peace and Authenticity

I’ve been away from social media (Facebook, IG, Twitter, etc.) for 15 days. I do this yearly and it has been my practice since 2020. The constant exposure to drama, garbage, and pretentious people online can take a toll on our mental well-being. That's why I decided to take a break. Being away online can be a great way to improve your overall well-being. I don’t really care about FOMO (the fear of missing out) because I value my mental health more than the notifications, and updates of pretentious people online.

I recently decided to take a break from social media , and I must say, it was one of the best decisions I've made for myself this year. During those 15 days, I was able to disconnect from the constant noise and distractions of social media and focus on other aspects of my life.

One of the biggest benefits of being away from social media was the reduction in stress and anxiety. With so much negativity and drama constantly filling my feed, it was easy to get caught up in it all and feel overwhelmed. Moreover, I have been experiencing stress from work due to a lack of sleep and a shift change. However, once I stepped away from social media, I felt a sense of relief and was able to focus on the things that mattered to me.

Another benefit of being away from social media was the increase in productivity. Without the constant distractions of notifications and messages, I was able to focus on my work and get things done much more efficiently. I was also able to spend more time with my family while on WORKATION.

Being away from social media online was a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. It allowed me to focus on myself and my relationships, while also reducing my stress levels and increasing my productivity. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the drama online, I highly recommend taking a break and disconnecting for a while. You might be surprised by how much it can improve your life.

Conclusion

My 15-day break from social media taught me that life is much more rewarding when we focus on what truly matters – our relationships, passions, and experiences. Though social media can be a useful tool for staying connected, it's essential to strike a balance between the online and offline worlds. Too bad because I can't stay OFFLINE for long because as a freelancer, I needed to be active ONLINE for my clients for credibility and exposure. Sometimes, a break from the digital chaos is all we need to rediscover the beauty of the present moment and live a more authentic, fulfilling life.
