With the shift to remote working, we freelancers have become victims of this change. With the advent of technology today, we easily get caught up in constant distractions that divert us from work, especially when our phones continually alert us to notifications. We often find ourselves checking social media, which can lead us down a rabbit hole.
Because of this, I have decided to set a timer on my social media accounts for at least 55 minutes to 1 hour per day. Beyond that, I no longer open the apps once I reach the limit. I notice that the more freedom I have to mindlessly scroll through each social media app, the more time I waste, which makes me unproductive.
My goal in doing this is to build discipline and foster personal growth as a freelancer. Freedom can sometimes be a blessing and a distraction.
