Being a multi-skilled customer service representative is critical to providing excellent customer service and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. This year, I've taken numerous courses (which are free, by the way; I had the privilege of being chosen by D.I.C.T.) from web development to graphics design using Canva—even inside sales! Prior to taking these courses, in 2021 after leaving my previous office-based job, I also participated in and completed a social media management and marketing course (also from D.I.C.T.) and a virtual assistant course from XcelHub. But do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with all that you’ve learned? Have you ever felt like you’re in the middle of a rat race, unable to focus on your own development? If so, then you’re not alone! With the advent of the digital age and a deluge of information being made available online, it can be difficult to stay on top of all that you’ve learned. It can sometimes cause you to lose your real identity. Finding the right balance between what you need to know and the way you express yourself can be a challenge.
So what I've done is pick the skills I've learned and organize them according to my present work and personal interests. I'm currently a seasoned customer service rep who does inside sales. During my free time, I apply what I've learned from SMM, learning the ins and outs of managing posts on different platforms and improving the visibility of my (mini) business online. I have three Facebook pages that I have grown organically without using advertising boosts.
I've kind of set aside the website design because it feels overwhelming to me. Even though I'm familiar with the fundamentals of website design, the thought of learning and applying coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is daunting. But thank God for drag-and-drop websites! Drag-and-drop websites allow me to create a website without having to learn complex coding languages. Look how I easily designed my portfolio here. It's already mobile-friendly and responsive! a real game changer!
Overall, the secret is mapping out the skills I've learned over time and making them complimentary to each other. A laddered approach! Don't get overwhelmed! Be systematic!
